The Shanghai Science and Innovation Workstation for Juniors officially opened this week with four local schools, including the High School Affiliated to Shanghai University, became the first to have a workstation.
After the opening ceremony at Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute in Baoshan, Professor Wang Chengtao from Jiao Tong University gave a lecture on 3D printing and Dai Kerong, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering, talked about the use of 3D printing in orthopedic surgery.
Students in the audience asked many questions and later visited a modern workshop in the institute.
The High School Affiliated to Shanghai University pays attention to the education of mechanical engineering and is pooling resources from corporate partners to cultivate future engineers. It plans to launch a 3D printing lab in the near future.
