3D printed artistic figurines are demonstrated at the 2018 International 3D Printing Carnival held in Baoshan.
2018 International 3D Printing Carnival was unveiled in Baoshan Wisdom Bay, the district’s science and innovation park, on May 31. A variety of 3D printing events including exhibition, summits, workshop and fairs were launched during the three-day festival.
A 3D-printed bridge as long as 14 meters, the world’s longest, is being constructed in the park by an architecture research institute from Tsinghua University. It resembles Zhaozhou Bridge, an ancient bridge in Heibe Province that is about 1,400 years old, and is set to be completed in three months.
Meanwhile, XEV, the first 3D printed new energy car put into mass production worldwide, was on display at the venue.
The 3D Printing Cultural Museum located in the bay also received a donation of the world’s first 3D printing machine 3D Systems SLA-250.
Experts and scholars in advanced manufacturing gathered to discuss new modes and paths for regional smart manufacturing through 3D printing.
Baoshan District is standing at the turning point to upgrade its industry, taking advantage of Shanghai’s strength in manufacturing. It has so far built a preliminary 3D printing industry featuring the printing techniques, software design, material development, industrial service and platform service in several of its industrial parks.
